Hello guys, today we want to analyze the whole year 2020 and its impact on our project, we want to talk about the present state of the game and also about the future goals. But before we start I want to thank all of you for your amazing support through this crazy year, you helped our project a lot and the Last Mortem would not be possible without you! So thank you for your support in 2020 and let's hope for the best in 2021.
So let's quickly run through everything that happened with the Last Mortem in this year. Yes, we live in crazy times and many unexpected and bad things happened through the last year, on the other hand, the whole unexpected situation boosted our project and made it what it is today. In January we started the whole remaking process of the whole project that was back then called Last Action. The first changes were visible in March when we started with frequent updates in gameplay and renamed the game to Last Mortem. The first Pre-ALPHA patches were released and in May we released the first big ALPHA patch which started the enormous support for our project. During the next summer months we added over 80 weapons, 6 maps, a completely new database system, store system, new soundtrack, new website, redesigned our discord server, and started preparations for Steam release and many many more. The Last Mortem became available on Steam at the end of October and from then till this day 5 thousand people from many different countries tried our game and some people play the game every single day. The actual patch has number 1.3.2, in March we started with 1.0.0, we released more than 40 different updates and fix patches through our launcher and another 21 patches on Steam. So these are some achievements we made through 2020, I think that we pushed ourselves to our limit and do the best we could to make this game possible. But that was past let's come to the present.
At this moment we still have the Winter Update campaign available in our Steam version of the game, so if you haven't tried the new update yet, you can now buy the legendary weapon MP7XS for just one Credit, we also offer you 3 different laser swords that won’t be available anytime sooner after this campaign and you can also play on the new Winter Mansion map. But that was the Steam version of the game, lets continue with our WebGL version.
During this year we wanted to make our game available also in browsers, the only solution for this was WebGL. We came through many different updates and optimizations to make the WebGL version of the game smoother and easier to run on bad pcs. A few days ago we had to pull the WebGL version down as we started with the renovation. And finally, it is here under the name – Last Mortem Lite. What is this? So basically it is the same game as the Last Mortem on Steam but with some changes, more optimization, and less content. Also, we have to mention that Last Mortem Lite does not share the same server as the casual Last Mortem so players from both versions of the game cannot play together. On the other hand, the WebGL version was largely played on game sites like PacoGames or Simmer.io, these players wanted to try the game out and have some easy fun. And this is the reason why we launched Last Mortem Lite. This version of the game does not require any login/register, does not include progression or store system, it offers more than 20 weapons for every single player, and all of the basic features of the causal Steam version of the game. It now loads much faster than before, it is more optimized and it is fun. Also, Last Mortem Lite won’t receive frequent updates in the future. We will inform you with more details about Last Mortem Lite in the following days!
And now let's see the plans for 2021. Please remember that these plans might be changed or completely removed, but we will try to make them possible.
Our biggest goal for the next year is to fix most of the bugs we know about and experiment a bit with the gameplay. We want to add more player engaging elements during matches and simply said push the quality of the game further.
Another thing that is now in development is the ability to create and manage events and in-game tournaments by registered event managers. This is currently in development and we will inform you about this soon.
We already showed you our vehicles, these are planned to be available in the game very soon also with some large map.
We would like to add some kind of zombie mode or open-world mode where players will be able to play without any rules just to have some fun.
Our main goal for 2021 is to end the Early Access state of the game and finally make the Last Mortem a finished product that will just receive content updates and support.
As you know, we are working as indie devs without any income, but we want to guarantee you the online services of our game for the whole of 2021, this is something we want to 100% guarantee you even if it will be hard. So yes, we have a long journey in front of us, lets hope that the new year will be better than the last one and that Last Mortem will be growing at the same speed as in 2020!
And that’s it, thank you guys for your attention and we wish you only the best in 2021! Stay updated and see you in the Last Mortem!
